Tri-State Poodle Club, Inc. vs. Tri-State Poodle Club Outreach, Inc.
Tri-State Poodle Club, inc. and Tri-State Poodle Club Outreach, Inc. are two separate organizations that both share the same fundamental mission: to promote and protect Poodles in our tri-state area of Illinois, Iowa and Wisconsin through community, education, performance, and rescue. How each organization goes about its mission is unique, thus their distinctiveness. These two organizations do work closely together, sharing many volunteers, until the dividing line between them may be missed by the casual observer.
Methods of pursuing our mission falls into two general classifications: 1) ways that directly benefit members/members’ Poodles (ex. members-only workshops, scholarships, playdates) and 2) ways that are for the benefit of the public and the Poodles of our communities (ex. rescue, community presentations, public clinics).
Tri-State Poodle Club, Inc. exclusively pursues the first classification: "ways that directly benefit members/members' Poodles." Tri-State Poodle Club, Inc. is fundamentally a member-driven organization.
Tri-State Poodle Club Outreach, Inc. exclusively pursues the second classification: "ways that are for the benefit of the public and the Poodles of our communities." In all of its functions, Tri-State Poodle Club Outreach, Inc. is for public-benefit.
Tri-State Poodle Club, Inc. is funded by memberships and Club fundraising events. Its direction and leadership is guided by its by-laws and locally applicable laws as well as its members through their input and votes. Annual reports are provided to the State of Wisconsin and its members.
Tri-State Poodle Club Outreach, Inc. is funded by public donations and general fundraising. Its direction and leadership is guided by its own by-laws and locally applicable laws as well as the expertise of its board and community advisers. It has no members and is recognized by the IRS as a 501c3 organization. Annual reports are provided to the State of Wisconsin and audited by its board.
Tri-State Poodle Club, Inc. and Tri-State Poodle Club Outreach, Inc., each have their own separate board, board meetings, financial records, accounts, tax-reports, constitutions and by-laws. They are each legally and functionally separate.
The two organizations are supportive of each other though they each follow guidelines for their collaborations. For example, communication regarding both organizations may be presented together as they sometimes serve the same audience, Tri-State Poodle Club, Inc. is a significant financial supporter of Tri-State Poodle Club Outreach, Inc.’s rescue work, and the Outreach’s projects depend heavily on the community network the Club has created. While the Club often supports the Outreach by donating money to its rescue efforts, monies from the Outreach never goes or supports the Club in any way.
Similar but separate--and both eager to promote and protect to Poodles we love so dearly.
