Who are we?
A non-profit group of poodle lovers founded in 2013 desiring to promote and protect poodles in the Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin, tri-state area through four areas: community, education, performance, and rescue/re-homing.
Community: We’re building a network of local people that can share their love and enthusiasm for the breed with each other. It’s a great way for those with more experience to help those newer to the breed and for all lovers of poodles to enrich the lives of each other and each other’s poodles.
Education: We’re hosting and encouraging participation at a variety of workshops and have had a number of outreach education opportunities in the area.
Performance: Not only are things like agility, obedience, conformation, etcetera great fun, they are tremendous tools for the building of stronger bonds and communication between people and their poodles. It also demonstrates to us, the general public, and even to our poodles of what the poodle is capable.
Finally, performance activities help maintain the breed and breed standard by promoting what a poodle should be able to do. As a club, we’re building support for performance activities by collectively attending shows, holding each other accountable in our training, and supporting opportunities for competition in our local area.
Rescue/Re-homing: There are few breed specific, poodle rescues in middle-America and none covering our area—until us. We are networking with other groups to help smooth the transitions of poodles needing re-homing. Our rescue efforts use a foster network catering specifically to the unique characteristics of poodles to give them the best chance at making their next homes their forever homes.
(We are not pursuing membership as an AKC club or the hosting of AKC shows at this time but have chosen instead to focus on supporting our area AKC clubs. As such, we are not a member club of PCA; for rescue/re-homing purposes only, we are associated with PCA-Rescue as a non-affiliate club.)
